Greater Cincinnati Accounting Firms Merge

Two Greater Cincinnati accounting firms have merged their operations.
Hamilton-based Baker & Associates has combined with Professional Business and Tax Consulting Services Inc., based in Fairfield, as of Jan. 1.
Bill Vidourek, owner of Professional Business and Tax Consulting, and his two other employees moved into the Baker office in Hamilton on Feb. 1.
Baker now has 20 employees and six CPAs by adding the three people from Vidourek’s firm.
The combined firm serves about 2,000 clients, mainly in Butler and Hamilton counties. It provides accounting and bookkeeping, payroll services, tax returns and financial/retirement planning, among other services.
The deal gives Baker a larger presence in the region and gives Vidourek’s firm access to the expanded services and expertise Baker offers.
“Our combined organizations further strengthen our accounting services in Butler County,” Don Baker, partner at Baker & Associates, said in a release.
Vidourek said the deal will enable his firm to “be able to continue the tradition of providing excellent service and expertise for our existing clients.”
Professional Business and Tax Consulting has been around for nearly 50 years, providing tax consulting and preparation expertise. Baker & Associates has been operating for more than 40 years, serving businesses, nonprofits and individuals.
The merger continues Baker’s growth. It has completed three mergers/acquisitions in the past 10 years.
“As Baker & Associates continues to grow, we remain committed to providing superior resources and professional expertise for all our clients,” Baker said. “Joining forces with Bill and his team further this commitment.”
The merger could vault the firm onto the Courier List of largest local accounting firms. The 25th-ranked company had had 17 employees on last year’s list, while a companion list ranking firms by CPAs cut off at 11 last year.
This is at least the fourth significant merger involving Greater Cincinnati accounting firms in the past year. Downtown-based Barnes Dennig merged Dayton-based Thorn Lewis + Duncan into its operations Jan. 1 in Barnes Dennig’s biggest deal in its history. Sycamore Township-based Flynn & Co. acquired Fort Thomas-based Donlin & Associates on Dec. 31. And downtown-based Clark Schaefer Hackett acquired Owosso, Mich.-based Business Management Resources in February 2020.
